5 tips for group portraits for business
How to get the best out of your group photos and create team photos with impact.
Whether you are after natural shots of your team having fun or more formal images for internal communications, these five tips will help us to create the best group photos.
1. Arrange your team in an interesting and unusual way
It is always better to arrange your team in a way that works for you rather than being too traditional with rows of chairs or tables. A good example are the shots where we have placed the management team in a pyramid shape which draws your eye to the centre of the picture.
2. Think about the space around your people
Ensure that there is enough space for us to leave room around the group so we can crop into if necessary, but not so much that it looks like they are ‘lost’ in the shot.
3. Choose a background that will suit your end use
When we are choosing a background, think about whether it should contrast with, or complement the people in the shot e.g. what colour is your uniform? This will help during post production when we are editing to ensure that the people are the main focus.
4. Clothing and colours matter
You don’t need to be a fashion guru but think about what your team wear, does it work well together? This is where we can help advise on the best choices for your company. Colours will affect how we process pictures so we may need to edit them differently if there is a clash of bright colours.
5. Be yourself!
You don’t need to be super serious or put on a false smile, let’s capture you as you are. Natural shots of everyone having fun will always look better than arranged photos that feel forced. We can help you come up with ideas for thematic shots out of hours if required.
